Are you crazy? You’ve never even seen him in person!
I know him, and he knows me… far better than you ever could.
How can you say that? You can’t be sure he’s not some pimply-faced kid goofing around with his high school friends.
You couldn’t possibly understand the connection we have. It’s more than a mere flirtation. We have so much in common.
In common? For Christ sake, you met him online! He’s going to tell you anything you want to hear.
Well, it doesn’t matter what you think. I’m leaving.
You said it was a harmless friendship.
The 100 Word Challenge, a writing prompt created by Velvet Verbosity, takes a single theme to tell a story in only 100 words ~ no more, no less. This week’s theme is ‘Harmless.’
I’ve read/heard too many stories like this. The Internet can be dangerous in that way – all of this “connection” which is very easy when you’re on the other side of a screen. Too easy to fancy that connection as something that can translate into face to face.

I’ve been blogging for a little over a year now. In that time, I’ve come across two people who fancied themselves in love with someone they’ve never met. Not only do they not know these people, they live on another continent. It boggles.
