I was feeling sorry for myself because I will be alone on the Hallmark Made-up Holiday Saturday, so I made myself some cookies. (They had pineapple and bananas, and gluten-free oatmeal, so they’re good for me… right?)
The menfolk are on a mission over the weekend. A trip they are taking with my blessing. Still, even if I reject the notion of setting aside a single day of the year to celebrate our devotion and love with my husband, I’m a little bummed.
Before the guys left, my Mister left me a note. A handmade Valentine so to speak. (No, I won’t share.) It made me a little teary – in a good way. No Hallmark card has ever done that.
For now, I’ll eat a couple of cookies, walk off the over-indulgence, then settled in for an early dinner and bedtime. I’m thinking seriously about making a couch cushion fort, and having a slumber party with the fur kinder in the living room.
The Mister and I will celebrate when he gets home.
Valentine’s Day is such a sham. We don’t need a special day to celebrate our love – so eat your cookies, put on a chick flick and enjoy some time alone. Then celebrate when your “Mister” comes home again. 🙂
