Serendipity

I went to witness the closing of another day. A sunset of ochre and gold, vermillion and flame. The scent of turmeric and ginger in the air, cinnamon and rooibos, pungent and alluring.

Instead I found a mythological messenger. An iridescent creature as delicate as the wind, bringing omens of peace and harmony. Stained-glass wings fractured the fading light, a prism of green and teal, silver and ebony.

A trick of the light, where fantasy becomes factual. Take a deep breath, catch the scent of ozone lingering above the spice… dragons are real.

  1. Your writing and your photography are sheer poetry! What a beautiful post!

Dragonflies are one of my favorite critters, and seeing one always lifts my heart. I clicked on your SkyWatch thumbnail because I loved the beautiful silhouette of the grasses against that glorious sky – what a wonderful bonus to see the dragonfly! He made your already-gorgeous photo absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for sharing it!
