A very good day

A week into the new Year and today was the first opportunity I had to capture a sunset. It’s either been raining, overcast or I was just too lazy to get out to take a photo.

On this day, it was gorgeous. The sun was out, the temps were up and the skies were a brilliant blue with a few wispy white clouds. I had spent the entire day with my son. I’m not sure how unusual it is for a teenager, and a boy for that matter, to want to go places with his mom, but I welcomed his company.

There was no teenaged angst, no grumbling, no disagreements. We laughed, told horrible jokes, and had a pleasant, untroubled, exceptional, very good day.

What better way to end it than to see this sunset on our way home. I was glad my son was with me to share in it’s beauty.

  1. I was floored when Sylvia said she wanted the 3 of us to do more together as a family. Those perfect moments make the rest of it seem entirely doable!

  2. I was just thinking today about how dramatically and quickly parent/child relationships change through the teen years – it’s no wonder there are so many stumbles as people try to keep their footing with each other! How wonderful to hear about a mother and son having a peaceful, happy day together, and yes – that sunset is gorgeous.

  3. What a gorgeous sunset, I’m sure made more beautiful by the fact that you could share it with your son. I think it is a bit unusual for a teenager, not to mention a boy, to be willing to share a day with his mom. But I’d say that makes you a very lucky mom. I always treasure those times when my kids are willing to hang out with me these days, even if just for a little while.
