School started last week, and the local ball fields are now barren of summer league games. They seem so lonely without all the children playing and parents yelling.
It didn’t rain for a change this weekend, but there were still huge puddles and soggy grass. I tried to capture the abandoned feel of one of our city parks. It was kinda sad, but fall sports will be gearing up soon and the sound of squealing kids will fill the air once again.

The ball on the ground is really great.
I love that baseball photo!!
Thanks. I had to lie on my stomach to get that perspective. I was glad the park was empty.
Why does summer always feel like the shortest season? Love your photos of the park. You caught that desolate feeling.
Thanks! I’d like to go back once soccer season begins, but I don’t have a kid playing any longer. I’d worry I’d be seen as that creepy photographer lady.
Oh summer, please linger a little longer. My favorite season is also the shortest …and I grasp it with both hands this time of the year, trying to soak it all in.
love the pictures.
I love the fall. The cooler weather, the fall colors, FOOTBALL, everything seems to slow down a little.
well I do love the color-block shoes and the chunky sweaters. 😉
I just hate saying goodbye to my summers, that is when life is slow (hazy, magical) to me.
isn’t it interesting how we both define and then come to appreciate ‘slow”?
just glad that your season is coming ..hope it makes you smile.
I’m probably less taken with summer because I don’t feel like I can fully enjoy it how I want. It’s like having all your irritating relatives come for an unannounced visit, then over stay their welcome. It’s a drawback to living in a summer tourist destination.
Fall means boots too… I do love a fun pair of boots.
