Every sky has its beauty

For the man sound in body and serene of mind there is no such thing as bad weather; every sky has its beauty, and storms which whip the blood do but make it pulse more vigorously.” ~ George Gissing

Submitted to Skywatch Friday: Episode 1, Season 7

Skywatch Friday begins its seventh season this week. We are sharing our favorite Sky today in honor of this anniversary, and in remembrance of SWF founder Klaus Peter, who passed away in August of 2011.

I joined Skywatch in March, 2009, while still at my now defunct blog, If Mom Says OK, then picked up again last fall here at my Notebook.

First published at IMSO on Sept. 17, 2009 (Episode 10, Season 4), I photographed this Sky at Crystal Beach, Destin FL.

Thank you, Klaus for creating this wonderful, and amazingly beautiful, international community.

  1. Wonderful shot, Tara. It’s funny, I think, how taking away the “color” in a shot gives one a whole new feeling regarding the scene. I like this.

    1. When I was in college, and taking my first photography course, all I shot in was black and white. I agree, removing the color takes away any distractions from the image.

    1. Thanks! I initially thought about cropping out the chairs, but then felt it added some perspective to how big the storm was, so left them in the shot.

  2. Awesome photo & quote! Love the drama in black & white. We have been deluged with storms the past week and I can relate to cloudy skies. Great composition!
