Crazy, hazy, daze

beach crowds

From June through August, apocalyptic storms, uncivilized masses of trespassers, infuriatingly motionless traffic, and hellacious heat intrude upon my idyllic, bucolic condition. These endless days of summer wear on my fragile sanity.

The Trifextra challenge this weekend is to: describe your summer in exactly 33 words

  1. Sounds like a royal pain in the neck! If only they could be better behaved-it might be a bit easier to take. But not much. Your frustration came through loud and clear in these 33 words! Well done!

  2. what is that saying..”one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”?
and I can understand, that having your favorite places, your secluded and secret venues overrun is indeed annoying.

although I am not a NYC native, I love the city enough(and am there enough) to be annoyed by the holidays there: “TOURISTS!” I say under my breath as we battle for sidewalk space .

hoping your summer is sweet anyway my friend.

  3. You had me at apocalyptic. Not to mention hellacious and bucolic! This reminds me of going downtown during tourist season, which I usually try to avoid at all costs! Nicely captured.

  4. and, and, and . . . don’t forget road whales taking up the entire lane space so you can’t see past and can’t get around . . . sigh! Tourism bites – but pays the bills.

  5. I love summer but the West End of Vancouver is inundated in the summer, particularly for the 4 evenings of fireworks at the end of July. I can imagine how you must feel but I guess it’s the price we pay for figuring out such lovely places to live! Very well written :)))

  6. Ah yes. This can be incredibly annoying. My tiny fishing village in Hong Kong gets completely overrun by tourists when the weather is nice. Still, I do it to your beaches in the summer, so I guess it all works out in the end. 🙂 Thanks for linking up. Don’t forget to come back and vote at the end.
