Started my day off not long after daybreak, making my way into town to execute my civic duty. Our early voting precincts opened Saturday, and I was among the first wave of voters there to cast my ballot in the 2012 Presidential Election.
Afterwards, I kept close to home, looking for places to photograph that I may have neglected lately.
I found a new dog park nearby, which also had a lovely trail wending around a small lake. I need to take my Dog-Child, Hershey, back soon to see if she likes it too.
It was a bit overcast and nippy Saturday morning, and I was grateful to find the beach deserted. Unlike my last few weekends where promises of snakes and gators were dashed, when I walked up the trail to the Gulf, I could see dolphins playing offshore. I know… I know… if there are no photos, then it didn’t happen. But, I was so enthralled with watching them, I simply ‘forgot’ to capture the moment. (Actually, I’m selfish, and didn’t want to share.)
Still, the empty beach was lovely, and the quiet and solitude was a welcome respite.
(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, Nikon CoolPix S205 and/or iPhone4)

I don’t think of it as selfish. I think of it as living in the moment. Sometimes we spend so much time behind the camera, trying to capture the perfect shot, that we seem to miss out on a piece of the experience!

The second to last photo looks like a watercolor. I need to start voting early or by mail.

Gorgeous. I’m jealous – as always, not just of your talent, but of the weather, too. How special to get to watch dolphins cavorting. You live in such a special place and take the time and effort to appreciate it, too.
And the voting? Oh I’m so done with it. Oh wait… that was last week’s post. I’m not looking forward to all the wasted mail etc I’ll still be getting!

Oh, love the look at Florida (we’ll be back in December yay!)….the beach scenes are beautiful. I try to remember before I had a digital camera how happy I was just to SEE a new bird (or certainly a dolphin, although I wasn’t so lucky that long ago)…but anyway, now I know what you mean about not getting a picture. Pretend you’re as old as me and remember the old days and just be glad you saw them!!! It was a wonderful day for you.

If the beach in Málaga was as beautiful as this Málaga would be (almost) perfect place to stay forever….
Have a good week ahead!

Dolphins playing – That would be fun to watch even if they were just eating. Do you ever worry about sand in the camera?

I am concerned about the sand, but it’s not usually as windy as it was Saturday. I’ve found a good camera shop that does cleaning for a reasonable price, and I do a quick clean myself fairly regularly. It’s not a huge problem, but it’s always there.
