A maelstrom of fear and worry rages through my brain. The black hole eye of the hurricane consuming all hope and reason.
Panic rising as waves, crashing against a fragile faith. Grasping for a hand to hold me above the churning tempest. Longing to hear the quiet reassurance that this tumult will pass, sweeping clear the flotsam of my troubled heart.
There is no preparation for this storm. No shutters to secure against the battering, no sandbags to hold back the onslaught, nothing but to wait. Wait for whatever may come. Praying the flood washes over me, bruised but whole.
The 100 Word Challenge, a writing prompt created by Velvet Verbosity, takes a single theme to tell a story in only 100 words ~ no more, no less. This week’s theme is ‘Quiet.’

Intense!

Oh, you scared me! I didn’t notice the 100-Word logo at first and I thought you were writing about yourself. Excellent writing, Tara. I felt the panic in this.
