I have very eclectic tastes in music. On any given day you will find me listening to Enya or Twelve Girls Band, Eric Clapton and the Eagles, Lupe Fiasco or Eminem, Metallica and Ozzy, 3 Doors Down or Foo Fighters, Adele and Missy Higgins, Saving Abel and Drowning Pool.
My musical predilections are like appreciation for classic art or fine wine… I don’t care whether what I like is acceptable or trendy, only that I like it. Most of the artists stored on my iPod would be considered uncool or Oldies, but there is a smathering of more recent artists.
To give you a glimpse into my music library I dug up an old song meme.

Cool list….but I have to confess to not knowing a few of them. I have a very eclectic taste in music too. My son likes to try out some Rap stuff on me just to see my reaction. Honestly, most of it sounds the same to me….but there are a few out there that I really do enjoy. I like many different genres…but I lean toward more traditional groups.

Yikes. It’s things like this that make me feel… well, either old or so “out of it” as to have passed through “uncool” on my way to dorky. Of the 25 or so artists you’ve mentioned in this, I only own music from four of them, and I’ve never even heard of many of them.
My tastes are also eclectic, ranging from oldies (1940s through 1960s) to show tunes (Broadway to movies) to classical to country to folk to new age to opera to cabaret to rock to international. Put the iPod on shuffle, and Dead Can Dance might be followed by The Everly Brothers followed by Andrea Bocelli. Yeah, that eclectic. And that dorky.

I love that though! Having such a great mix of music is how it should be. Being able to appreciate all sorts of musical genre opens your mind to so many different ideas.
