100 Word Challenge: Denial

train rails

Have you ever stopped reading a book because the story line was heading toward one of the characters, one that you really like, doing something stupid and you didn’t want to believe it, don’t want to see that train wreck. You hope against hope that what you fear would happen, doesn’t.

That’s where I am. I’m breezing along, enjoying the story, then bam! I had to put the book down for a couple of days to prepare myself for the inevitable. Still didn’t help. I was pissed about the plot twist.

I still want to believe that the situation will improve in subsequent books. If not, I may have to write my first complaint letter to an author.

Don’t get me all invested in these people then make them go completely off the rails.

“Denial helps us to pace our feelings of grief. There is a grace in denial. It is nature’s way of letting in only as much as we can handle.” ~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

This week’s word is:

Denial

What to do:

Using “denial” for inspiration, write 100 Words – 100 exactly – no more, no less. You can either use the word – or any form of the word – as one of your 100, or it can be implied. Include a link in your post back here, and add your story to the Mister Linky list. If you don’t have a blog, you can leave your submission in the comment section, or as a Facebook status post. Remember to keep spreading the love with supportive comments for your fellow Wordsters.

  1. I had the exact same thing happen like two weeks ago with a book I was reading. I didn’t put it down (because I was addicted at that point) and it hurt all the more because I binged it and now have to wait a year before the next one lol
