Hitting the ground strolling

Today I went for my first solo hike since my knee surgery. Well, almost solo – Asta was with me. You know just in case I needed her to channel Lassie and seek help if I fell down a well, or the marsh embankment.

We went slowly, navigating the gradual inclines and uneven ground without incident. Asta was happy because unlike our normal hikes that went at a brisk pace, we had a more leisurely walk. She had plenty of opportunity to sniff anything she wanted and pee at every chance.

I took a new (to me) camera and turned our outing into a photo hike. Something else I haven’t done since before the new knee. (I need to play around with this digital camera to get more accustom to its idiosyncrasies so I can get crisper images – these were a little fuzzy to me.)

It felt good being out enjoying the nice weather. The knee felt good… still a little stiff and little wobbly, but it’s getting stronger every day. These hikes will definitely help with recovery.

Asta and I put in a good two miles on the trails. If the weather cooperates this week, we’ll go again, maybe pushing on a bit farther.
