My son called me from his work recently. Apparently, staff was asked to turn in Christmas leave requests. He needed to know if we were planning any trips North to visit grans.
I didn’t know what to tell him. Ideally, we would go. But, we now have four pets. Pets that cannot fend for themselves, four pets that are not travel friendly, nor necessarily welcome guests by those who we would visit.
It’s quite an undertaking to plan trips away. We have someone we can call, a pet sitter for hire. She does a good job, but can be pricey.
Having someone come in 2-3 times a day to check on our animals is something like having someone come in to help with housework. I’ll spend a whole week cleaning the house so we won’t be judged.
Maybe if we start the clean up now, we can be done and ready sometime before the first of the year.
And this mess is so big
And so deep and so tall,
We cannot pick it up.
There is no way at all!”
~ Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat
