Just when I thought I had swept my patio of the final shedding of autumn’s dull brown, dead leaves… just when I thought I would finally get a reprieve from that particularly onerous task, this week I was faced with 1000s of tiny magenta blossoms courtesy of my neighbor’s swamp maple, its flowering canopy spreading out over our shared fence.
Soon these tiny purple flowers will mingle with the white blooms from my crepe myrtle and yellow catkins of my Chinese tallow, fuscia frillies from the other neighbor’s mimosa, and pink pre-blueberry buds from yet another neighbor’s fruity shrubbery to make a more colorful mélange of debris to whisk off my patio.
Spring is coming and it’s a rainbow.
Flowers… are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty out-values all the utilities of the world. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
This week’s word is:
Flowers

Lovely.
And here’s to spring!

Spring usually comes early to Florida. Mid-February is the beginning for planting season.

As a denizen of the Northeast, I am duly jealous. . .

Don’t be too envious… come summer and the heat index is above 100º and humidity is 95%, we’ll talk. There is always the beach nearby though.

The beach is a really nice fallback option. My “nearby” is a couple hours away, lol.

I’m lucky in that mine is mere minutes away.
