What scares you

“Try a thing you haven’t tried before three times – once to get over the fear, once to find out how to do it, and a third time to find out whether you like it or not” ~ Virgil Thomson

First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Do one thing every day that scares you.” Whether I intend to or not, whether I want to or not, I do the same frightening thing every day. I can tell you I don’t like it, and I most assuredly haven’t figured out how to make it work.

I believe all good fiction includes an element of truth, and all good photography includes an element of fantasy. In this journal I hope to give voice to the stories swirling around in my head, and to capture the images I see through my camera’s lens.

  1. I think, lately, I am scared of being scared.
    Isn’t that ironic?

I wonder all the time “what” it is I am truly frightened of. Perhaps that why I don’t write anymore.

I’m so sorry I missed so much of your writing lately, but I hope to catch up a little today. XO

        1. There is a quote by Marianne Williamson that says what I feel, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.”

  2. Agree. Today I ran 8 miles…I hate it and when I’m by myself (like today) I am afraid…not for being alone, I’m pretty scary-enough to get left alone- but scared I’ll not be able to finish or that I will fail…so whether I fail or not I think I kinda win cuz I tried…today rocked but there’s always tomorrow 😬
