I went to ground for my photo hike this week, and tried to get a different perspective on a familiar walking trail. Even though Florida doesn’t go through the typical fall foliage changes, there is still early evidence of autumn’s pending arrival, with magnolias dropping their red berries and pines shedding cones.
While I’m usually alone when traipsing around this park, a fellow hiker intent on power walking loops around the trails, kept passing me. I can only guess what she thought when she’d turn a corner and found me on my knees, or belly, taking pictures of spent seed pods, and flowers.
(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, and/or iPhone4)

What a gorgeous capture! I hope your fellow walker gets to see your results!

Love these Superior Snaps! And I have to say that I’ve always favored the seed pods more than the flowers in my offbeat kinda way.

You are right, looking down is something we often forget to do and yet all around our feet nature is leaving her trail of magic

The fourth picture is my favorite! Your pictures almost make me miss Florida! I lived there my whole life until I moved to Ohio 3 years ago. I have to say though, I adore watching the seasons change up here, there’s almost something magical about it!

I moved to Florida from Tennessee. Fall in the Smoky Mountains is spectacular. You don’t get that kind of color changes in the Sunshine State. Trade-offs…
