Yellow means “Hurry Up”

Broken caution light

Merging into the turn lane, she waits for the green arrow. As the long line of cars begins inching forward, she starts her incantation.

“We’re turning left… you go, I go, you go, I go.” She taps impatiently on the steering wheel while her son, riding shotgun, looks straight ahead.

The final car lacks courage, and fails to make the turn.

“No guts!” she yells out her window. “Bastards.”

“You need to calm down.”

She tries staring down her son, but he’s unflinching. After a few seconds, she begins laughing.

“You’re so weird,” he says.

That makes her laugh harder.

  1. There is nothing quite as sweet, funny or irritating as your son (my sons) saying, “mom you’re so weird”.

And when I drive I am always wary of the yellow light. 😉
