Ramming speed

road work sign on bridge

I took the first shift because I thought he’d wanna sleep. I’d gone to bed early so I’d be rested before we left. He never came to bed, instead he stayed up repacking the car like Tetris.

Maybe he was wired from sleep deprivation, but Gawd, he would not stop talking. Kept rambling about people I didn’t know. It was crazy talk most of the time.

Once in morning rush traffic, it took all within me to not ram into a concrete barrier just to shut him up. Something quick and lethal, but, there’d be no cure for my misery.

This week’s challenge is inspired by “Crash,” by the Primitives
This week’s Studio30 Plus prompt is “quick and lethal,” from Lightning Flash

  1. This was amazing! And I totally loved this line “repacking the car like Tetris.” how true. Sometimes the best conversations can be had in utter quietness and silence.

  2. Ah, the joys of road trips! Sometimes I wish I could tell my husband to shut up and just enjoy the silence…or listen to music instead of him blabbing on and on šŸ˜‰

  3. I think my husband would say this is me sometimes. We are in the car for a long periods of time daily (not just for trips!) so some days, I have a lot to say (go figure) and many of those times he will turn on the NHL channel, Howard Stern or simply look at me and say “you can take a nap honey. Now.” and I often do. šŸ˜‰
