While the sun seems to have returned to my beaches and woods, I think there will be a few fits and starts of cold and rainy weather. Spring is making Her presence felt, and it’s a welcome change.
I ventured out to my local State Park, just a few miles down the road. It had rained the night before, and was still raining hard in the morning. I wasn’t too confident it would pass and let me get out again for a hike. Lucky for me, I was wrong and by the time the sun was up, clouds were drifting away and it turned out to be a beautiful day.
When I hike around this park, I typically go “off-road”, straying from the trail. This morning, I found a large patch of pitcher plants. These protected flowers are not common at the park, so I was excited to see them.

The colors are all so beautiful. Here in Los Angeles it’s so dray and brown that your photos are a welcome sight. Happy SIMC, jj

What stunning colors! Makes me want to head outside — too bad I don’t have that park nearby.
