School started last week, and the local ball fields are now barren of summer league games. They seem so lonely without all the children playing and parents yelling.
It didn’t rain for a change this weekend, but there were still huge puddles and soggy grass. I tried to capture the abandoned feel of one of our city parks. It was kinda sad, but fall sports will be gearing up soon and the sound of squealing kids will fill the air once again.

It does feel lonely and you captured that beautifully. We started back today and I cannot believe that the summer is gone.
Have a great week!

Only you could make an old, forgotten baseball look that good.

School starts so much sooner now than it did in the olden days. Love your photos! We’ll hang onto summer awhile longer here in FL! Hugs!

the park that’s a few hundred yards from our street has Fall Ball Leagues. Goose is playing softball in one of them. All of the rain we’ve had make for great greenery and beautiful ballfield shots.
and I love that Florence & The Machine song

Baseball and softball are over, but soccer starts up soon. It’s a fall sport here. While I was out at the park, I could see the soccer pitch lines were already painted on the fields, and the goals were out.

old ball, sunflower seeds? and I’m not sure but is that a protective cup?
Nice pics.

Yes, yes it is, and it was very much worse for the wear. I felt sorry for its former owner.

Take heart. There’s still major league ball. Playoffs haven’t even started.

There is that, but there is something about a tiny tee-baller getting an in-the-park homerun that makes summer Little League special.

It was like a ghost town. Just last weekend the park was brimming with little kids.
