Drifting

This week’s photo hike is very special… I have a guest photographer. My daughter and I finally got out on the bayou for some kayaking, and I actually left my camera in the car – on purpose!

The day started out fair, but after only 30 minutes on the water, a storm blew in. While it didn’t rain, the thunder and lightning were fierce. We found a sandy landing and waited out the worst of it, counting the seconds between the flashes and rumbles. We never got past “one.”

Once the skies cleared, I spent the rest of the morning drifting along with my daughter, enjoying her company and the scenery. She took all the photos for a change, and graciously shared them with me. With permission, here is our day on the bayou.

  1. The photos are great and it is nice to get someone else to be in charge of taking them. This area looks a lot like what we see in this part of the state. When I go to the beach I NEVER take my camera. My hubby does sometimes but I like to experience the freedom of walking the beach…and getting my hands sandy, picking up shells. Happy Sunday!

    1. Since the majority of my photo hikes are solitary, I always have a camera. I had mine with me, but left it in the car and was happy to leave it there so I could enjoy the morning without having to document the outing.

    1. Rain was no problem, but the lightning was too close for comfort. She did get some great shots. It was nice to turn over the photog reins to her.

    1. I was freaking out a little over how close the lightning was, but my daughter wasn’t scared saying, the kayaks weren’t metal so we had nothing to worry about.
