Sweet as honey

bees on pink milkweed

Lies, sweet as honey,
Drip from her sanguine lips.
Lies that loop through your brain
Like a bad love song,
To finally lodge, heavy as a stone,
Underneath your heart,
Cold and immovable.

  1. This is so true. What we believe from people and words that stick with us far after the person who told it is gone. I take things to heart so this really hit me. Fantastic! AND congratulations on you win. The post was so poignant and emotional. Unfortunately hitting too close to home. I cried through the entire extremely well written piece.

  2. How bad is it when you’re being lied to and you only suspect it? Can’t prove it, yet. But in your heart you know. But in your mind you don’t want to believe it. Yeah. That.

  3. it’s so true, the things said to you (good or bad, but mainly bad) do loop like a worn out cassette tape).
and once they are lodged beneath your heart, it’s hard to move them.

loved the picture too, how pretty things can sting sometimes. WOW, you’re writing moves me.
