Last week I missed my photo hike. Probably the first time that has happened in more than two years. I was off doing the whole “my-kid-is-home-from-college-family-togetherness” thing. I’ll admit to getting a little twitchy not being able to get out, but it was nice to hang with my daughter and have everyone home at the same time.
This week, it was back to the woods. Two hours on the trail, breathing in the fresh air, basking in the winter sun, and luxuriating in my “me-time.” I love my kids, and love having a full house for Christmas, but sometimes all that love and togetherness is exhausting.
I escaped to the Florida Trail near Crestview for my hike.
(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, Nikon CoolPix S205 and/or iPhone4)

It looks that you’re the only one enjoying me time in the woods, all for you.
Happy holidays to you and your family,
see you next year! 🙂

Oh my goodness I want to find that bridge and take self portraits on it. It would make such a perfect setting.
Merry Christmas to you lovely lady

That first picture is great. It’s like the opening scenes of a great horror movie or deliverance,

I have family arriving tomorrow and I know, after a couple days, I’ll need to get away for me Me time! Your get-away is absolutely lovely!

That looks like a great place to take a hike! I love the way the path in the first shot is so heavily wooded and yet the sun still streams through. And I think the ‘shroom is my favorite in this bunch. Such sharp detail and vibrant color. You’ve outdone yourself!

it seems Dysfunctional Mom and I are in agreement. My favourite is the stump with the moss. Lovely colours and extraordinary textures.
