After a long day at work, the last thing he wanted to do was carry out half a dozen bags of trash.
“What’s all this,” he demanded, toeing one of the open, white plastic bundles.
The teen-aged boy sitting at the kitchen table, languidly looked up from his homework. Tugging his headphones off, he looked at the piles of debris on the kitchen floor.
“Oh, that,” he smirked. “Mom’s spring cleaning this weekend.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” His dad asked, fishing a package of chips out of one garage bag, and several chocolate bars out of another.
Closing his math book, the boy rummaged through the bags too, rescuing a box of Fiddle Faddle and an unopened liter bottle of Mountain Dew.
“Come Monday, she says we are all going on a junk-food-free diet,” the teenager explained, tucking the snacks into his backpack. “That means the world will end in three days.”
Trifecta, weekend challenge is to craft a 33-333 word story with this phrase as inspiration: “The world will end in three days.”

Tara,
That is awesome. That would definitely seem like the end of the world to my son!

Oh, I could never do this…only because it would be hypocritical for me to keep eating chocolate. Well, that, and I’m not good at hiding stuff so they’d raid my stash!

Ha, I wouldn’t want to deal with the apocalypse that would occur taking junk from a teenager. Thanks for linking up with us again. Come on back tomorrow for the latest challenge. It’s going to be fun.

Ha! This reminds me of when I put the family on a vegan diet. Yeah, that lasted.

This mom sounds like me. And I follow through then everyone whines but feels. Better in the long run. Nice difference from the others.

Oh, I would love to clean out some of the stuff my kids eat. My youngest is a real junk food lover.
