Woke up Saturday morning to the news a tropical depression>storm>likely hurricane was developing in the Gulf… oh joy. If it is going to build into a full-fledged hurricane, forecasts say it should happen within the next 48 hours. Shit…
I’ve already started my to-do list for final house prep should that become necessary, but hoping it won’t. Once a storm enters the Gulf, it’s like a pinball game, there’s no telling where it goes until it gets there, and even then it can bounce around spreading the love.
With a lot of work ahead of me, I did the only thing I could do… I went on a photo hike.
Drove over to Camp Helen State Park just outside Panama City. I’ve been there many times before, and wanted to try again to photograph the abandoned pier on that beach. It was overcast and threatening rain, so I think it gave the scene a menacing look, which seemed appropriate considering what was happening out in the Gulf.

(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, Nikon CoolPix S205 and/or iPhone4)

Given the weather you probably didn’t need to worry about getting too many people in your shots. Looks like you are getting plenty of rain now.

Do you have a micro lens to capture the bee shot? I love the vibrant colors.

The sky does indeed look very threatening. I love the shot of the trees and the path though…. those types of images make me want to explore what is just round the corner

As a girl on the Gulf, I have my fingers crossed for you but the impending storm certainly made for beautiful pictures. Have a great (and safe) week!

I love this idea to write 10 things that you’re grateful for from yesterday. I love the Artist’s Way. I did about 20 years ago. I’d love to do it from where I am today.
PS I need to do the Claire de Lune station. That’s one of my favorite songs.
