Off track

I’ve been whining lately that I’m running out of places to go on my photo hikes. I’ve done beaches, I’ve done the local state parks, I’ve found out-of-the-way trails that aren’t on any maps. What could I do to mix things up? I was getting tired of taking the same photos over and over, changing only the season or time of day.

I felt I was getting stale and boring.

Then I turned left.

Driving through a small town that I’ve been through hundreds of times, instead of going straight through the lone stop light, I turned off my normal path. It was very serendipitous, and I will return to explore some more.

  1. That was a great detour you found! I wish I could find a place like that around here. I’m sure there is one. I’d have to leave the neighborhood to find it! 🙂

Love the black water… and now I have lyrics stuck in my head…. “Mississippi moon won’t you keep on shinin’ on me….”

  2. Oh my! I’m SOOOO glad you took that detour. The hanger picture makes me think of the scene in “Secondhand Lions” where the “old boys” fly right through the barn doors. Have you seen it?

  3. Off track places are often the best finds and you definitely found a place. I really like photographing old bridges and forgotten places and you captured the essense fabulously.

  4. glad you turned left back there. It amazes me to think random decisions can change the path we are on in great ways.
