On this gloriously rainy Labor Day weekend, I headed out to the annual Greek Festival hosted by Sts. Markela & Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Fort Walton Beach. The food, all prepared by parishioners, is as authentic as it gets. I had to get a to-go box to take most of it home there was so much. That… and I had to save room for all the decadent pastries.

After stuffing my face, I went storm chasing. It was exciting and awe-inspiring. Mother Nature is a crazy bitch. We should all try harder to not piss Her off.
Tropical Storm Lee was making his presence known and I wanted to take advantage of the awesome skies. The storm’s eye had settled over coastal Louisiana and its eastern rain bands were coming ashore in our little Florida fishing village.
At one point my weather app indicated winds were at 30mph. I believe it, and had the knots in my hair to show for it. It wasn’t raining hard, more intermittent than steady, but the waves were cresting higher than I had seen in years.

Wow. What an absolutely stunning series! The shot w/ the flag pole and the waves truly captures the strength & power behind this deadly beauty of mother nature! (P.S. Love that you show how it affected you to…you looked wind-whipped but exhilerated!!)

Amazing looking storm sky beach photos! WOW! We’ve been watching this slow system on our radar from up here in Ohio and man that thing is crawling like a snail! I hope you don’t get any damage from this. Crossing my fingers for all you guys down there!

I adore the colour of your ocean and sky during the storm. I love shooting a good Vancouver storm, but everything here — sky, ocean, mountains, city — is so, so grey. They’re some of my best shots, but displayed in a very bright room.

These are great. So much beauty in the clouds. You’ve inspired me to see if I can get a chance to capture the bands when they get up here tomorrow.
