Seeing I was unharmed, my beloved whispered, ‘they’re waiting for us to cut the cake.’
I released my death grip on the old man’s bruised scrotum and entered the banquet hall. His vile voice silenced, his florid face tear-streaked.
Smiling my sweetest smile, I turned to my father-in-law, “you won’t be forgetting your manners again, will you?”
