Lessons learned

I believe in karma… that what we project, be it kindness, compassion and understanding, or be it intolerance, judgement, or bigotry, will return to us.

I also believe that certain people enter our lives to help us, to lead us to truths that we’ve been unable to achieve on our own. Imparting lessons to help us be better people, to help us be kinder, more compassionate and considerate.

To those people in my life, I can never properly express the depth of my gratitude.

~ With your guidance, I have learned to think before I speak. That once uttered, words cannot be unsaid,  nor their consequences undone.

~ Through you I learned to trust in knowledge, accepting that there are some things I cannot change but need to turn over my worry to the ones who can make a difference. Your lesson has helped me put aside my anger and be more at peace.

~ From you I learned forgiveness. That my past does not define me nor does it dictate how my life unfolds, how I will live or love. I learned that there is a difference between forgiving and forgetting.

~ At your side I learned that no matter how desperate my situation, I can survive and grow stronger.

~ In you I have learned the true meaning of love, unconditional and undemanding. Your faith in me is humbling.

~ Your spirit and ambition has taught me that a college degree did not make me a success, being a mom is my triumph.

~ That you have endured with me all these years, proved there are soul mates. Your patience and understanding are lessons in perseverance.

So many amazing people have blessed my life. From each of them I have learned something that has helped me be a better person, spouse and parent. I can only hope that I have made a positive difference in someone else’s life.

“True friendship multiplies the good in life and divides its evils. Strive to have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island… to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep him is a blessing.”
