Tuppence for paper and string

“With tuppence for paper and string
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground you’re a bird in flight
With your fist holding tight to the string of your kite…”
~ “Let’s Go Fly a Kite.” by Robert and Richard Sherman

These kites are huge, big enough for someone to sail behind. For a person my weight, kiteboarding in 15 knot winds (17mph), the sails would need too be about 12m². (For scale, a king-size flat sheet is only about 4m².) They are very popular in our Gulf Coast waters. I’ve not been brave enough to try it, but it looks like fun.

I believe all good fiction includes an element of truth, and all good photography includes an element of fantasy. In this journal I hope to give voice to the stories swirling around in my head, and to capture the images I see through my camera’s lens.
