Clearing skies

Too often man handles life as he does the bad weather. He whiles away the time as he waits for it to stop.” ~ Alfred Polgar

edge of a thunderstorm

If only we had the means to predict Life’s storms as we can Nature’s.

A vision of what was coming, and how it was building into a maelstrom over deep, dark, raging waters. Where we could track its highs and lows, see what was feeding the furor, and where the destruction was making landfall.

We could prepare for the worst, digging in for the furious onslaught of fear and helplessness, knowing that it would soon abate. Giving way to brighter skies and gentle breezes.

If only we could see that boundary between the storm and calm, and know we would make it through the night.

  1. I often wish I could see life coming, to be prepared. However, we all know that life is coming no matter what, just like those storms. If we spend our whole lives preparing and repairing when do we (really) live?

I loved the last line even though it put a Barry Manilow (Made it Through the Rain) in my head. 😉 If only we could be told “you’ll get through it, so keep going.”

Much to think about here. xo

      1. I think that’s the wish of most of us to know that if we endure we will have the joy of knowing fulfillment at the end. Alas, it’s not always a given and that is what keeps us from pushing forward. Our chorus of “what for?” ringing down the road.
