As spring pollen clogs rivers and streams,
Floating on hot, thick air,
So too your vicious secrets
Choke the life from me,
Clinging to the heart on my sleeve,
Gritty and bitter, souring our love.
As much as I try to brush it away,
It finds every open wound in my devotion,
Seeping into cracks and fissures
Worrying old doubts and insecurities
Until I cannot breathe,
Cannot blink away my cruel tears,
Cannot clear my mind of treacherous thoughts.
One small fleck of suspicion
Builds on another
Until the avalanche of distrust
Buries me under a blanket of insignificant
Misunderstandings.

Wonderful, love the poignancy and power of the final three lines in particular. Powerful stuff.

I wiped my own tears.
This was beautiful and visceral.
