Land locked

dry storage boat

Riding high upon crashing tempest waves
Cresting swells, rolling deep in fathomless seas

Whipping, tearing sails, splintering bow to stern

Lashed to the mizzen, screaming above the roar
Wind’s challenge yielded, an iron gauntlet thrown
Raging at the maelstrom, spurning fear and dread

Darkness casts its net, smothering all hope
End is near, the ship dashed upon the rocks
Take no prisoners, rescue no survivors

Danger ebbs away in the harsh light of day
No debris to navigate, no stranded craft

Metaphorical hurricane averted

Marooned in a land-locked life, high tide flotsam
