October, the harbinger of fall, is more than half over. Fall foliage has reached and maybe passed its peak colors. Bold reds and oranges, bright yellow and purples – the different hues rival any rainbow.
Yet… here in Florida, where temps are still summer-ish, and the majority of our trees stay green year-round, we have our own flavor of autumn colors.
Like everything else down south, even fall is laid-back. There are no flaming hues of crimson and gold, we have muted shades of mauve and spicy pumpkin. We have butternut squash browns, lemon yellows, and seashell whites.
Don’t just be jealous of our beautiful, sunny fall weather, envy our easy-going fall colors too.

It just goes to show , often it is the absence of color that makes even a hint so dramatic, by contrast. Just as in life, we need to have known the difficult times to truly appreciate the easy ones. I love my florida sunrise and sunset shots, made all the more beautiful by the fantastic cloud formations and stratifications! And I love your photographs!

Your descriptions of the colors was what was beautiful. Fall and I have a complicated relationship…and these pictures make it hard to dislike the season in the North or South.

Oh this reds! So very beautiful. It’s still pretty darn hot in Los Angeles but I’ve yet to see any signs of Fall yet.

I love your take on autumn. It may not be flaming but it is beautiful.

I enjoyed your Southerner’s view of “Autumn” very much. The “laid back” mood came through in the subtle but wondrous hues you captured so beautifully.

Had to laugh. I envision Xtina singing, but with Cocker’s dance moves. That would be beautiful.

I think you have it all too (except for the snow and I really don’t care for that!)

The best part of living in Florida during the winter is there is no snow. It only dips below 40F sporadically.

You also have a lot of nice citrus fruit, not to mention the gardens etc.
