Peace of mind can be found
While missing a piece of mind.
I don’t know what I don’t know.
Ignorance is not bliss,
Apathy is my party of choice.
Voices speak in sanctimonious tongues,
But I’m an unrepentant unbeliever.
It’s easy to pretend
Their degradation and rebukes
Aren’t aimed at me.
Out of the corner of my eye,
Wraiths slide around corners
Like so much dirty laundry,
Airing our secrets and skeletons.
I could not care less.
I’ll flip a middle finger
Into the disapproving Public Eye.
Blinded, bruised and bawling,
I feel no sympathy
For its self-inflicted pain.

We don’t know what we don’t know. Such truth!
