Standing at the mouth of the cave, rays of the morning sun shining over my shoulder barely reach into the gaping abyss. A black so deep no light penetrates the confines of rock and mystery.
My stomach churns with frenzied butterflies at the thought of delving into the unknown. I call out a string of nonsense words, and their echoes return in perfect sequence, mocking my reluctance to take control.
With trepidation, I step over the threshold, ready to face my fears. I seek a treasure buried deep beneath the surface. There is no marked trail, I’m on my own.

Scary, but so exhilarating!

Makes me feel claustrophobic just thinking (or reading) about it!

I love the wild, on-you-own feeling about this, the mystery and adventure. As I read, am standing on that edge, ready to dive in with you. Nice write!

taking that first step, that first foothold into a place you can’t see is always a lonely journey but my thought is always…”the treasure is worth it”.
So deep and wonderful, this is.

You’ve captured the experience exquisitely. Not sure I’d be as brave as you.

Not something you would want to undertake if claustrophobic.
