I knew she was going to do it, but still stepped into her round kick to my head. I thought I could block it, instead I hit the mat hard, to be attended to by Disney-esque bluebirds.
I didn’t win the match, but I did get up and finish it, even scored a head shot too.

For about 10 years, I trained in martial arts and competed at the national and world level. I was a very good fighter. In this particular match, I went up against a known opponent. I had sparred against this woman many times, I knew her style. We were friends. I saw her tell for a round kick, and also knew she was aiming high. I was trying to be cool. I though I could get in under the kick, block her, and score with a punch to the body. It didn’t work out how I planned.
She caught me square on the chin, and I went down like a brick. I never loss consciousness, but I did actually see cartoon birds circling my head. I also sported an impressive bruise for several weeks.
I asked the center judge to, “just give me a second,” because I didn’t want a forfeit. I did finally get my footing again and completed the match. I lost on points, but learned that I can take a punch.

This title is so perfect. But your story is incredible. I knew you were badass, T, but this just sealed it! Nice job taking the kick and getting back up!

I think she’d out-match me. You can’t do leg sweeps, or take downs in taekwondo sparring.

That’s it. You’re hired. If I ever need a body guard, I’m calling YOU, Tara. Nobody would ever suspect you.
I realize that this match didn’t go the way you’d planned, but I am still uber impressed. UBER!
Thanks for playing.

I’m beginning to think that there is just nothing that haven’t done, don’t know about and it makes you cool and better; extremely Interesting.
