Dust you are

For dust you are and to dust you shall return…”

~ Genesis 3:19

tire track in dirt

Our world is merely the compacted silt of Her parasitic inhabitants. The mealy remains of our overabundance and bounty, an amalgam of all our material extravagances melded with our natural remains. Our essence distilled into a convoluted slurry of all that we were, over eons crystallizing into bare minerals.

None of us are long for this world, only borrowing meager space for a finite existence. At the end of our days, we are meant for worm food, enriching the soil for future crops and herds to benefit the many. As such, we continue the infinite cycle of death and rebirth.

The 100 Word Challenge is to tell a story in only 100 words. This week’s theme is “Soil”

  1. Yeah. That’s us alright – and that’s where we’re headed, too. Worm food. Crop fodder. Fade to black.

Very well done and highly articulate, Tara. Well said.
