Guilty pleasure

Submitted to Haiku Friday for LouCeeL

Last year, before the beginning of the school calendar, my husband’s office collected supplies for local schools. We filled a shopping bag with notebook paper, pencils and pens, folders and binders. The Mister also found my nearly new 64-count box of Crayola™ crayons and tossed that in too. I couldn’t bring myself to tell him that the crayons were mine… there were kids who couldn’t afford to buy supplies…  so, on into the bag they went.

Florida’s tax-free back-to-school shopping is this weekend. Office supplies, clothing and shoes are exempt up to a certain amount. I see a new box of crayons in my future. This time, I’m labeling them with my name.

  1. A brand new box of crayons is like the key to imagination’s door. I’ve always loved to color. And I have a positive fetish when it comes to notebooks, pens, and pencils.

  2. I don’t think this is a guilty pleasure. I still help Bug and Goose color in restaurants and at home. A brand spanking new 64 count of crayolas is a work of art.

  3. I love crayons, love the colors. My business card holder has crayons on one side, to remind me that I am more than ONE Thing…they are always a conversation starter.

I can’t wait to get my new crayons this weekend for my KINDERGARTNERS (OMG).

    TGIF!
