I’ve never seen an Elvis on blue velvet, but I’ll take your word about it being a must for southern home decor 🙂 I like the line about growing embers setting the fringe ablaze.

No velvet Elvis? It is kitsch at its best.

My mom introduced me to Elvis before I could walk… and I still *swoon* … and still miss my blue suede shoes. 😉 Love this!

In his prime, Elvis really was The King.

Velvet Elvis! You bring the painting to life, and what’s more, you give it a rationale for existing! Really enjoyed this, Tara.

Elvis in the black leather suit at the 68 Comback Special was my favorite. Swoon. This is beautiful. The King would be proud. I may have to open my blue velvet DVD box now and watch. Lol.

I’ve known a couple of people with velvet Elvises. You make them sound nicer than they appeared.

E showed that imagery and talent could make a force of nature. My late grandmother had the cliché blue velvet picture/painting of The King. Thanks for bringing back that memory.

It was a reference to those kitschy portraits of Elvis painted on blue velvet.

Interesting that you and I have used the same colour but have produced very different takes on the prompt. You make Elvis sound more glamorous than the perception I have of him!

I remember the young, sexy Elvis better than the bloated, sad Elvis. Back then, he was a force of nature.

Nice to read! I remember some songs I liked though.
And I forgot to mention that we have used the same ‘synonym’ for blue too!
