Road trip: iPhone edition

If you’ve been following along, I spent most of last week on the road with my dad and step-mom, driving to Ohio (about 2,200 miles round-trip from Florida) to attend a family funeral. I thought I’d be able to get a few photos on the trip north, but only managed some snaps from the passenger seat. (I didn’t try to take any shots while driving, and didn’t attempt any stops on the Interstate) On the return trip south, all I wanted was to get home. (Made the drive in a record low of 10 hours.)

There wasn’t much free time to go anywhere else, so this week’s photo set is a bit eclectic, but a good representation of how I spent my time… mainly in a car, on the road.

(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, Nikon CoolPix S205 and/or iPhone4)

I believe all good fiction includes an element of truth, and all good photography includes an element of fantasy. In this journal I hope to give voice to the stories swirling around in my head, and to capture the images I see through my camera’s lens.

  1. even your quick snapshots are beautiful…have been dreaming of a road trip like that although my hubby thinks I”m crazy…hmmm, maybe this summer? You have inspired me 🙂

  2. When I was a teenager, I went on a long car ride with my dad and stepmom from Rochester NY to Minneapolis, and up around the Great Lakes on the way home. I wish I’d had a digital camera back then.
