One foible of working from home is the great temptation to stay in pajamas all day, sans bra and makeup. It can make for awkward encounters if you feel compelled to open your front door.
He blushed a shade of pink that reminded me of a newly washed baby, a color that I wished I could duplicate on my pale, aging cheeks.
I admired his faith and dedication, but was amused that he suddenly had somewhere else to be when I offered to share my beliefs with him. Seems his door-to-door calling didn’t extend to reciprocating conversion chitchat.

Oh, to have that blush again without artful cosmetics… He should have stayed, you seem a lovely conversationalist.

It’s always nice to give people a bit of their own medicine. Perfect scene, and oh I also wish I could duplicate that color again. Still. Whatever.

I would love to see those “pale, aging cheeks” again. I hope, someday, to do so.
Love the piece – and the photo.

Gorgeous photo! I’m always in my robe during the day. The postman and UPS guy know that. Hair & makeup be damned. But the peep hole is for that! Also always a good excuse if accidentally open the door. Oh darn…oops. Cute story!

Gorgeous photograph. I never answer the door to them. Just last week my neighbor who lives on the same property came flying out her door screaming at them, “shame on you, shame on you.” I can’t make this stuff up. She’s a character. In any case they hightailed it back to the car before they could reach my door. It was quite a scene. And you have described it beautifully – I love the newly washed baby.

Bahaha! I need to try this tactic.
Love that red door, where was that?

Works like a charm.
The door? I had to take a detour on a roadtrip to Knoxville. It took me through a small town near Chattanooga, and I drove by that building, and I stopped to take a photo. I don’t think I could find it again if I tried.

I have had those embarrassing door moments before. More than once.

The ways you used the words were creative and seamless. Sometimes I wish you wouldn’t highlight them so I can reread it and find them on my own. Excellent imagery.
