The last two cold, and rainy weekends delayed my planned return to Blackwater River State Park. Heading out Saturday morning, the sun was shining and I figured today was the day. The river, clear and clean, is the color of rooibos tea. Paired with the light, ecru sand – it looks like raw sugar – the scenery is stunning.
The trail wound around the river bank and past several, small inland ponds. Spindly magnolias and pin oaks choked the river side of the woods, and roots rising to the surface, made the path treacherous. Once it opened out into the stand of long, needle pines, the path smoothed out and hiking was easier.
The ponds, the same reddish color of the river, are amazingly still. “Perspective” is a reflection in one of the ponds. Flipped, the image looks a little unnatural, but it’s not obvious why.

You have Blackwater River and we here in Central Wisconsin have Black Rriver Falls. Both rivers named “black” for the same tannin coloring in the water I imagine.

I like the mosaic look of the palette of pictures. I was stuck with Picasa, as that’s all I have. It doesn’t allow one to see pictures individually or larger.

With the WP.com sites, I can’t use outside plugins, the gallery options is a built-in with WP. It’s a relatively new feature, that I’m trying out.

Cool – I have access with WP.org to all of the WP.com widgets, and I think the gallery is one of those. I shall have to activate it.

There are something like five different configurations for galleries. The one I’m using is Tile.
