Fall in Florida

It was a gorgeous day on Saturday. Just a little crispness to the air, but full of sunshine and light breezes.

I headed south toward Panama City to spend the morning at Eden Gardens State Park, an old homestead I’ve photographed many times before.

Some sort of special event was being set up, most likely a garden wedding, so I strolled around the perimeter of the estate, trying to capture the look and feel of the beginning of fall in Florida.

The rose garden was still in bloom, taking advantage of the recent rains and lingering warm weather.  Spanish Moss hung in curtains from the old oaks, swaying softly in the canopy, giving the whole scene a melancholy feel. As if it was waving good-bye to summer. Leftovers from squirrel store gathering were scattered around, perhaps an omen that we may have an actual cold winter this year.
