Stick by rigid stick
A wall built around my heart
ImpenetrableTrue love’s red, hot heat
Passionate, tempestuous
Ignited a blazeA bonfire lit
Funeral pyre piled high
With old hurts and painRaising from the ash
A new heart tempered by flame
Indestructible
I love this one!!

I like that it came out indestructable! That’s a great word.

Tara – this sang to me. I saw those sticks and the fire, and a tiny sorry heart within it all. X

I love the image of building the fence stick by stick and how fast it burns down. The image of the phoenix at the end is perfect.

I like the connection between “impenetrable” and “indestructible.” Strong piece. Thanks for sharing. =)

I like this, Tara. There are a lot of hearts with fences around them. The good news is that those walls can be torn down.
