These last few weeks I’ve been on a mission.
I can’t remember what actually prompted this seemingly fruitless search, but all I do know is that I’m not alone. There are other’s ‘out there’ who shared in my quest, who recognized truth and beauty when they saw it, and encouraged me to not give up my pursuit.

Still, there was a tragic lack of awareness. After innumerable phone calls and web searches, I finally tracked down my quarry. Sometime between Aug. 31 and Sept. 16, I will be in possession of…
Tank Girl
…a live-action/animated take on the British punk art comics by Jamie Hewlett and Alan Martin, starring Lori Petty, Ice-T, Naomi Watts and Malcolm McDowell. I. CANNOT. WAIT!

I’ll confess too that I have sort of a girl crush on Petty. How cute is she?
You’d have to love scifi and graphic novels to appreciate this movie. You’ve got a post-apocalyptic planet, kangaroo-human mutants, an evil corporate mogul who controls the last of the world’s merger water supply, a couple of hot, kick-ass chicks and a tank.
Throw in a few animated scenes, a rocking soundtrack, and you’ve got a cult classic. What’s not to love?
As soon as my package from Amazon arrives, I’m having me a movie night. Anyone who wants to join me for the showing is welcome to bring their own popcorn and beer.

Day 5 – 30 Days of Shamelessness: declare your love for an ‘uncool’ movie.
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve heard of this movie…..but it looks like one I might enjoy. Thanks Tara…. ~Joy

Sounds like my kind of movie. Unfortunately I’m a tad too far away to come to movie night

There is a movie I have tried TWICE to watch, only to be interrupted by circumstances and I have been unable to finish it – It’s called “The White Ribbon” (Das Weisse Band), a German/Austrian film set in Germany just before WWI. It’s in German with English subtitles, black & white – and very dark, at that.
Although the premise of the film is interesting, what I find most fascinating is the exploration of life in post-feudal Germany – as an exemplar of life in much of Europe at that time. The whole Noblesse Oblige thing and the relationship of the classes, one to the other, is very intriguing to me.
