This week’s photos were taken at Grayton Beach State Park around the dune lakes. These lakes are rare in that they exist only in a small handful of locations around the world. They are unique in that they sustain both salt and fresh water environs.
I need to find a better way to hike in sand. My trail shoes fill up quickly and there’s nothing good to say about having your socks full of grit.

(Photos shot with a Nikon D60, using an 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 20mm f/2.8 wide-angle, 50mm f/1.8 prime lens and/or a Nikon CoolPix S205)

Your pictures always make me sigh.
I guess ‘pictures’ is not the right word.
Art.
Yeah. That’s it.

If you find a way to keep sand out of your shoes and socks let me know.
Gorgeous images. The last one is my favorite.

Love them – especially the gecko(?). I need good nature near me like that. Or I just need to visit my nature more often!

I agree with Patti, your photos could easily be made into notecards. They are beautiful.
PS I’m a little late, but congratulations on exceeding 100 posts on Thin Spiral Notebook!! 🙂

Gorgeous pictures! Is that a blue nosed skink? Did you get that close, or do you have a magic lens???
Tara R.: Thank you so much. I got as close as he would let me, but I do have a wonderful zoom lens and shoot in very high resolution. I can crop fairly tight. I didn’t adjust the color on this shot. He really was that blue.

visiting from SIMC. Pictures are incredible!!! Love the one of the lake with the palm trees. Are you in FL?
Tara R.: Thank you! Yes, I live on the Gulf Coast of Florida. These photos were taken at a state park near the small beach community of Seaside – where ‘The Truman Show’ was filmed.
