A day at the office

November 3, 2013January 15, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 11 Comments

I didn't get out for a dedicated photo hike this week, but I did get a chance to spend some time at the beach, writing and reading. I planned to take some pictures, but it was just so beautiful, all I could do was soak in the sun and ocean breezes. You can click on … Continue reading A day at the office

The beach is back

October 12, 2013January 15, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 15 Comments

Finally! I have my beaches back! My first weekend with room to actually roam, and I had Crystal Beach and parts of the National Seashore all to myself. There are still a few stragglers, but the beaches in Destin and Fort Walton were gloriously sparse. The seagulls were even slightly less vermin-y. There is a small … Continue reading The beach is back

Sea turtle watch

September 1, 2013January 6, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 21 Comments

I can finally feel a touch of autumn in the air when I'm out on photo hikes. The rains have stopped, the humidity has fallen to breathable levels, and after this holiday weekend... I may get my beaches back. The past two days, I've broken with routine and spent hours sitting in the sand. In … Continue reading Sea turtle watch

Frogs and locust

August 11, 2013January 15, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 22 Comments

We're making plans to kayak next weekend. We drove over to Panama City, and I showed her Camp Helen State … Continue reading Frogs and locust

One shot, two ways

August 10, 2013January 15, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 10 Comments

I don't know if the pier was abandoned for the newer, longer, stronger pier on the Gulf, or if this wooden pier was the victim of a killer storm and was never rebuilt. It stands like an old dinosaur, it's grey and aged bones baking in the harsh Florida sun. These shots were taken from … Continue reading One shot, two ways

Out and about… again

May 18, 2013January 15, 2015 ~ Tara R. ~ 19 Comments

Saturday was glorious! My first real photo hike in weeks and I took full advantage of the weather and my freedom. I drove out to South Walton County and traipsed around in the woods at Flatwood Trail near Grayton Beach State Park, then ambled down the road to Deer Lake State Park and its practically … Continue reading Out and about… again
