100 Word Challenge: D minus

I have a confession….

I eat while I work on my laptop and that means crumbs. What I don’t catch with my food shelf, a silicone keyboard cover captures. That is until it doesn’t.

The last time I had to replace the cover was a smidge over two years ago. Perhaps I purchased a more durable cover since the one before that last only a year. Hopefully, this new one will out last them both.

As in times past, to commemorate the passage of a beloved and well-trusted protector, I’m linking the new writing prompt to the key that prompted me to change covers.

This week’s Challenge is brought to you by the letter – D. As in, while you write your 100 Words, you can’t use the letter D.

There can be no “ands,” no “do” or “don’ts” nor their children “did” and “didn’t.” No “should,” “would” or “could.”

No “dreams” only “nightmares.” There can be no “good” or “bad.”

Tenses have to be present because you can’t add “ed.” Which will be difficult if you can’t use “today,” or any day.

We can’t do “dinner,” but we can have “breakfast” or “lunch.”

Even the word, “word” is not allowed, nor “allowed” allowed, nor “aloud” allowed.

You’ll have to dig deep, or search intensely, for usable language.

You pick the topic, whether prose or poetry, just leave your “ds” behind… leave them alone.

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words, like ‘What about lunch?” ~ A. A. Milne

What to do:

Without using the letter “D”, write 100 Words – 100 exactly – no more, no less. You can either use the word – or any form of the word – as one of your 100, or it can be implied. Include a link in your post back here, and add your story to the Mister Linky list. If you don’t have a blog, you can leave your submission in the comment section, or as a Facebook status post. Remember to keep spreading the love with supportive comments for your fellow Wordsters.

  1. A challenge if I must say
To excuse a notion that only I can express
Reflections of myself is so easy to confess
Simply write a song without a rhythm
Can one compare to skipping while music plays as a hymn
How can I relate to the symphony if there is no tone
I simply look in the mirror with joy in my heart
    Confessing with the English language
    Accepting the Challenge
I enjoy the thrill of exercising my right
The liberty to showcase my skills is my best asset
With my eyes asleep I write with my heart beat
