100 Word Challenge: Sorry

This time next week, 2017 will be underway and New Year Resolutions will already be broken.

I stopped making Resolutions a long time ago. They became reasons to feel bad about myself when, for whatever reason – good or bad – I couldn’t fulfill my promises.

Instead of making a list of things I wanted to “stop” doing, I tried making lists of things I wanted to “begin” doing. That too became self-defeating.

Still, the start of a new years seems the perfect opportunity to make changes.

I saw this screen capture of a Tumbler thread posted on Facebook recently. I like the idea of replacing negativity with positivity. Not that I won’t apologize when it’s needed. I’m not the least bit reticent with apologies if I have wronged someone, but I think those receiving will appreciate a “thank you,” as much or more than an “I’m sorry.”

Perhaps if I’m more focused on projecting a more positive attitude, I will also be more cognizant of avoiding any actions that would warrant an apology.

“If I’ve done anything I’m sorry for, I’m willing to be forgiven” ~ Edward Noyes Westcott

This week’s word is:

Sorry

What to do:

Using “sorry” for inspiration, write 100 Words – 100 exactly – no more, no less. You can either use the word – or any form of the word – as one of your 100, or it can be implied. Include a link in your post back here, and add your story to the Mister Linky list. If you don’t have a blog, you can leave your submission in the comment section, or as a Facebook status post. Remember to keep spreading the love with supportive comments for your fellow Wordsters.

I believe all good fiction includes an element of truth, and all good photography includes an element of fantasy. In this journal I hope to give voice to the stories swirling around in my head, and to capture the images I see through my camera’s lens.

  2. As the year comes to a close I find myself full of words to speak,
it has not being the year I had hoped for and yet so many things happened that I couldn’t have imagined
But I am grateful for the things I can dream of for 2017 and the real steps I can take to get there, and heck if I don’t make it where I’d like to find myself then so be it I will look back and like now just say sorry for all the screw ups and the dissolutions and hope for a better tomorrow
